Design Patterns
Posted on September 9th, 2009 No comments
Book Description
Design patterns books have been gaining popularity since languages like Java and C++ first became widely used. Since Microsoft released its first truly object-oriented language, .NET, software designers from an even broader range of business and programming spheres have been looking for ways to refine and write better code. Many have turned toward design patterns, iterative and AGILE design methodologies, and other more defined ways to improve performance, maintainability, portability, and scalability of code as well as design processes. This book fits into that need in that it can teach people who write software new skills and techniques for improving their existing and new coding efforts.Product Details

Upgrading To Php 5
Posted on September 8th, 2009 No commentsUpgrading to PHP 5

ISBN: 0596006365 Publisher: O’Reilly Media, Inc. Author: Adam Trachtenberg
Description:
If you’re using PHP 4, then chances are good that an upgrade to PHP 5 is in your future. The more you’ve heard about the exciting new features in PHP 5, the sooner that upgrade is probably going to be. Although an in-depth, soup-to-nuts reference guide to the language is good to have on hand, it’s not the book an experienced PHP programmer needs to get started with the latest release. What you need is a lean and focused guide that answers your most pressing questions: what’s new with the technology, what’s different, and how do I make the best use of it? In other words, you need a copy of Upgrading to PHP 5. This new book is targeted toward PHP developers who are already familiar with PHP 4. Rather than serve as a definitive guide to the entire language, the book zeroes in on PHP 5’s new features, and covers these features definitively. You’ll find a concise appraisal of the differences between PHP 4 and PHP 5, a detailed look at what’s new in this latest version, and you’ll see how PHP 5 improves on PHP 4 code. See PHP 4 and PHP 5 code side-by-side, to learn how the new features make it easier to solve common PHP problems. Each new feature is shown in code, helping you understand why it’s there, when to use it, and how it’s better than PHP 4. Short, sample programs are included throughout the book. Topics covered in Upgrading to PHP 5 include: The new set of robust object-oriented programming features An improved MySQL extension, supporting MySQL 4.1, prepared statements, and bound parameters Completely rewritten support for XML: DOM, XSLT, SAX, and SimpleXML Easy web services with SOAP SQLite, an embedded database library bundled with PHP 5 Cleaner error handling with exceptions Other new language features, such as iterators, streams, and more. Upgrading to PHP 5 won’t make you wade through information you’ve covered before. Written by Adam Trachtenberg, coauthor of the popular PHP Cookbook, this book will take you straight into the heart of all that’s new in PHP 5. By the time you’ve finished, you’ll know PHP 5 in practice as well as in theory.

Table of contents
About this bookThe year 2008 is a memorial year for Georgiy Voronoi (1868 -1908), with a number of events in the scientific community commemorating his tremendous contribution to the area of mathematics, especially number theory, through conferences and scientific gatherings in his honor. A notable event taking place in September 2008 a joint conference: the 5th Annual International Symposium on Voronoi Diagrams (ISVD) and the 4th International Conference on Analytic Number Theory and Spatial Tessellations held in Kyiv, Georgiy Voronois native land. The main ideas expressed by G. Voronois through his fundamental works have influenced and shaped the key developments in computation geometry, image recognition, artificial intelligence, robotics, computational science, navigation and obstacle avoidance, geographical information systems, molecular modeling, astrology, physics, quantum computing, chemical engineering, material sciences, terrain modeling, biometrics and other domains.
This book is intended to provide the reader with in-depth overview and analysis of the fundamental methods and techniques developed following G. Voronoi ideas, in the context of the vast and increasingly growing area of computational intelligence. It represents the collection of state-of-the art research methods merging the bridges between two areas: geometric computing through Voronoi diagrams and intelligent computation techniques, pushing the limits of current knowledge in the area, improving on previous solutions, merging sciences together, and inventing new ways of approaching difficult applied problems. Some chapters of the book were invited following the successful 3rd Annual International Symposium on Voronoi Diagrams (ISVD06), that took place in Banff, Canada, in June 2006. Some others are direct submissions by leading international experts in the prospective areas.

Atkins’ Physical Chemistry, 8th Edition
Posted on September 7th, 2009 No comments
I’ve seen this out there over 500 Megs claiming HQ -High Quality…..but I really dont know what the big deal is……I made this one and its under 200 Megs and here’s some screens of it……look pretty quality to me

Atkins’ Physical Chemistry remains the benchmark of achievement for a chemistry degree throughout the world. The judicious choice of topics, the clear writing style of both authors, and the careful exposition of maths, reaffirm the book’s position as market leader. In the eighth edition the authors provide a more compact presentation through the careful restructuring and redistribution of material. The coverage of introductory topics has been streamlined, and later topics rationalized, bringing into sharper focus the scope of the text to mirror the needs of today’s students and lecturers. Mathematics remains an intrinsic yet challenging part of physical chemistry; the new edition offers greater explanation and support, to ensure that students can master the important mathematical principles, without sacrificing the rigour and depth of its mathematical content. The pedagogical framework, which is a hallmark of Atkins’ writing, has been strengthened further: new ‘Notes on good practice’ provide guidance on the use of terminology and help students to avoid common pitfalls; short ‘Commentaries’ remind students of the applications of mathematical and physical concepts, and provide useful cross-references to related resources in the book and on the accompanying companion web site. The eighth edition introduces new ‘Impact on’ sections which integrate the impact of physical chemistry on modern applications such as biology, biochemistry, medicine, nanoscience and astrophysics. All these exciting new features and innovations are presented within a new full colour text design, to stimulate and engage students still further.
